Souper Bowl Sunday
We participated in Souper Bowl Sunday this year as part of the Annual Tackle Hunger Event held on
Super Bowl Sunday. We collected cans of soup which were donated to Tom’s Turkeys and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church’s Food Pantry, East Pittsburgh. The children created a sculpture out of the soup cans. Last year following the ingathering, they created a soup can couch, (which they sat on) and a soup can television, with remote to watch the Super Bowl Game. The more cans of soup, the more creative they can be and most importantly the more people we can reach! Can you guess what this year’s sculpture was?!! Great Job Kids!

Men’s Breakfast
The local Lutheran Men’s Breakfasts will continue again this fall. Our first get-together will be Saturday, October 10 th @ Penn-Zion’s, beginning at 8:00 AM. Our guest presenter will be Don Andree (and possibly his wife) who will share his experiences as our Westmoreland County local committee chairperson for Operation Christmas Child, as well as his trip to Paraguay with Operation Christmas Child to help distribute shoeboxes.
November’s breakfast gathering is scheduled for Saturday, November 14th @ Holy Trinity in Irwin, beginning at 8:00 AM with a presentation from Tom’s Turkeys about its local outreach in and around the Irwin area.
